What would you do if you received a message from the future showing you a glimpse of the planet as it is in 150 years time?
This was the question posed when we worked with Xenophile media on a campaign for Greenpeace, aimed at bringing peoples full attention to the urgent problem of climate change through humanities impact on the environment, a site was set up as a base to be able to engage peoples imaginations on a number of different levels. Either through text, image or video a personal message or pledge to the future could be made. The top 100 most popular submissions were added to a time-capsule that was buried in Copenhagen on the day of the Climate Conference.
However, around this normal public facing front there was a mysterious subtext of messages from a girl named ‘Mya’ who seemed to be trying to communicate from somewhere through the framework of the site. Through a series of clues and games, users followed a trail of narrative, unlocking segments of a video message - a message from the future, warning us what might happen.
